A Christmas Carol Train Tour
Posted on September 12th, 2009 No comments
Disney is putting out a new computer animated version of A Christmas Carol this fall, and they brought their train to town for the weekend. It was a very interesting combination of the stuff surrounding the film – some of the history, some costumes, models created for filming and even a look behind the scenes at the special effects.
Apparently the whole film is computer generated animation, but was shot with real actors acting out all of the scenes. They did some neat motion capture stuff and the pieces they showed us look really neat.
At the end of the train tour, we each got to take our pictures and have them morph into some of the characters.Outside the train was an inflatable theater (yes, it was a giant inflatable, air conditioned theater) where they showed a few minutes of the film in 3D. The boys loved it – Sarah was really scared by it. I guess we know who will go to see it when it comes out.

Funny Faces
Posted on August 27th, 2009 No commentsSarah loves to make faces – she always has. This day was no different. She sat at the table making faces rather than eating her breakfast. And she was supposed to be the shy one.

More Trees Down

2009 will go down as the year all the trees fell down. Thankfully this time they were not on our property, but up the road. The road was closed for a few days as the trees were pulled from the power lines (oh so carefully). It was great to have no traffic on the road for a few days too. -

Cow Appreciation Day
Posted on July 10th, 2009 No comments
Chick-fil-A is one of the kid’s favorite fast food places and they had a promotion today that offered free chicken to anyone dressed like a cow. Thus, a frenzy of crafting ensued and many cows were created! The children had fun creating their costumes and loved their free kids meals. It was a very clever promotion and the restaurant was crowded, which made it more fun for everyone. We even saw one of Jordan’s teachers dressed as a cow – along with her daughter who is Sarah’s age and from the same province in China. A really fun evening!
